AHLIANREVIEWS: Kao Thermal Steam Eye Mask

For a working mother who is always deprived of sleep and always have to rely on concealer to hide the dark eye circles, I thought this thermal eye mask looks interesting enough for me to buy and try as it claims to reduce puffiness and smooth and hydrate the eye areas.

At $1.80 per mask, why not give it a try? :)

While I was anticipating the product arrival, I have to say the packaging is very disappointing. It could be due to the box that is too wide for the normal size letterbox in Singapore.

Or the box itself is very flimsy. Whatever is the cause, this is unpleasant. Thankfully the items inside are not damaged as they are just sheets of masks individually packed. So if you want to buy this as a gift, you would need to consider paying more for courier service.

On the effect of the mask, I would have to say up to now I cannot tell if it is effective. My eyes are still puffy and dark circles still there and obvious. So what happens to the steam? The effect is like self heating on the mask and then you place it over your eyes.

It does feel good for something warm over your eyes and it lets out the fragrance that you chose so your mind is relaxed. I usually do this at night and will doze off before I know it. I would say this product is more for relaxing. As for the other effects, may be if you use it every night would yield better results. I use it like once a week just like normal face mask.

AHLIANREVIEWS: Protective glasses against UV light and radiation for computers user

Ever since I did Lasik a few years back, my eyes have always been dry and red. It could also be long hours sitting and staring at the screen for work and leisure. Therefore the recent craze on wearing glasses to protect the eyes against UV light and radiation sounds good to me. Especially when we have to use laptops/computers in our daily work for long hours. Coupled with using of laptops at home and staring at smartphones to watch shows or playing games. Goodness know how many hours we spend looking at screens.

Another issue I have is that I recently found that my eyes look more yellowish than before. That prompted me to want to get a pair of these radiation/UV light blocking glasses to try to see if it really helps me. Luckily this particular type I ordered is not expensive and I bought 3 pairs at one go. haha... Cheap mah...

Given the price, I cannot expect a lot from the seller. So the delivery took a bout a week to arrive and good to know it came in a box to protect the items.

As you can see, there is no box for each pair of glasses and no cloth for you to clean the glasses. Luckily the items are in tact so nothing much to complain about on the items.

I ordered in sequence Matt Black, Purple and Light Black. Read some reviews saying the Purple is nice so decided to get that. And true enough, it looks the best among the 3 colours. The second colour I like is the Light Black which is the shiny one. Looks so much better than the Matt Black.

In terms of the quality, as the glasses is new, it is quite tight and I am unable to wear for long hours at one go. I do not have high nose bridge therefore most of the time I have to keep pushing the glasses up. Overall, I can still wear it for an hour or so then have to take it off to relax my eyes and head. I am not sure how good the effect is but you can tell when you wear the glasses, things look less bright and more "warm". Especially when you look at screen, it is not as glaring as before. Maybe that IS the effect of wearing this.

The fact that I cannot wear the glasses for long hours, the effects cannot be felt immediate. My eyes are still tired after a long day of work staring at screen. In short, still need a period of time to monitor the effect.

VERDICT: No harm buying it to try if you have the same experience like me since it is not expensive and the design is nice and classic.

Updated on 21st Jun 2013:
I am one who is definitely not born with long and thick lashes. For those who are, you will never know what we went through! (haha...) If I do not apply mascara, it still feels like something is missing with my make up.

Well, the Chinese says the eyes hold the key to the soul... so it is really super duper important we get the eyes done up to do the "talking".

I have been debating which one takes up more time: applying mascara or applying false eyelashes? Which method cause damage to the lashes more? Can anyone share their experiences? :) I personally think they are about the same! haha... I have been applying mascara everyday and I have to say I can do it within 5 mins for both eyes. When I first started trying to apply the false eyelashes, it took me ages to get it right!!! and I ended up with lots of sticky glue all over my eyes...

But with practice, I believe I should be able to complete the full set within 5 mins! That is my goal!!! Hahahaha... like real. Let me share with you how this batch of eyelashes look like when I close my eyes:

Using eyelash #216 when eyes are closed

Then there is another one when I looked down slightly. That is to show you how natural it looks:

Using eyelash #216 when eyes are looking down

I love these lashes as they are very thin and natural looking. Below is how the actual looks like when compared to another model  #217:

Eyelashes #216 vs #217

Now I can wear them to work without having to think everyone is staring at me and wondering if I have come to the wrong workplace! hahaha...

Price: SGD5.50 /per box of 10 pairs

I always know there is double eyelid stickers for those people who want to achieve a more obvious double eyelid. But always thought it is a hassle to put it on plus it is not natural. So again I did not explore the idea until recently when I saw it is not that expensive to use it and really, it is not that difficult. It all takes a little time to practice. See how my eyes look after using the sticker:

Below is the invisible stickers I bought and use:

In my previous review, I have tried using those nude colour stickers and thought it was more natural given that it is nude colour. However, due to the material, it is very challenging to just remove the nude stickers from the plastic paper, let alone stick it to the eyelid. So the transparent sticker is more sturdy and easy to peel off and the shape of the sticker remain a nice arc shape.

Let me show you how it looks like when pasted on skin:

I am currently selling this type of eyelid stickers so if you can interested, you may drop me a comment or email me or visit my blogshop.

AHLIANREVIEWS: Review on Nude double eyelid stickers

I always have one side of my eyes bigger than the other due to a thicker and more obvious double eye lid on the left. Double eyelid stickers have been around for as long as I can remember but I have never try before. So with the affordable prices in Qoo10, I decided to get one to try.

I purchased the nude ones thinking it should be less obvious than those transparent ones. I was right in the sense. But I think I bought the wrong type. The ones I bought are very thin so the first challenge I faced when trying to remove it from the plastic sheet was that it crumbles the whole stripe.

Because it is thin, the sides to the stickers get curled up and thus difficult to place on the eyelid properly. Also, because the sides are thin, it is less sticky and thus it could not sit properly on the curved eyelid.

It took me a while to get the sticker on so I cannot afford the luxury to wear this when going to work as it is really time consuming. Perhaps it is me coz I have clumsy pairs of hands? Do note that some of the stickers have left and right side so if you only need to wear it on one side, you will waste the other sides of the stickers. Do purchase those that you can wear on both sides.

The free item thrown in by seller is the transparency eyelid stickers which I think works better as the material is plastic and thicker so removing from the sheet is easier and the adhesive is much better. I will not purchase the same type again once I finish playing with this batch. But I read the line type seems to work better so will purchase that to try when this batch is finished. :)

AHLIANREVIEWS: Crystal collagen eye masks

I simply cannot resist the cheap price of the crystal collagen eye masks. Each pair is about $0.35. I bought a mixture of different types of eye masks to test which one works best.

So far I have tested the red wine and the gold eye masks. Both felt the same to me. Smell wise is ok and both are cooling to the touch. I will update the blog when I try on other "flavours". So far I do not see much improvement to my dark eye circles yet.

AHLIANREVIEWS: Maybelline Magnum Mascara

I have oily eyelids so I always buy mascara or eyeliner that is waterproof. Maybelline Magnum Waterproof is one of the better mascara that is affordable and do the job of lengthening my lashes. It also does not give me problems after wearing for hours. I have very sparse and thin lashes so I really cannot go out without putting on mascara.

This time round I didnt opt for registered mail so was kind of taking a risk when I placed the order. As the price is very attractive, I actually do not mind if it gets lost in the mail. I paid $12.40 for this mascara which is around $20 in normal drugstore. Quite a big savings if you use mascara on a daily basis. Item took about 2 weeks to arrive so you need to plan in advance if you are ordering from same seller. I may order other type of mascara from seller again. :)
