AHLIANREVIEWS: Living room feature wall
Finally the feature wall is up. Chose a grey colour with some motif design as background. Colour theme is black, grey and white with a tinge of beige for flooring and curtain.

Common toilet
Here's a look at my common toilet. I got a shock when i first saw the colour... GREEN! I'm not a fan of green for any interior design so was really disappointed when i saw tiles in the bathroom. HDB's regulation is that you cannot hack the tiles for 3 years because of the waterproof membrane they had done. Ok so i will have to bear with the green for the next 3 years...

Sometimes i wonder why can't they do one simple colour like white? At least it is easier to go with anything because i always wonder who decides on the colour??????? What makes them think this combination looks good???? Coz colour is so subjective!!!
I forgot to take photo of my master bedroom toilet. Will remember when i visit again this weekend.

AHLIANREVIEWS :HDB 5 room service yard windows
The service yard doesnt come with window from HDB. At level 11, I think it can be dangerous if anyone were to fall off the yard. So discussed with hubby and decided to get windows installed here. Feels much safer. Initially wanted those casement window. But due to the structure of the hanging racks outside the window area (can see from the photo) because it actually gradient upwards therefore casement window cannot be opened unless they raised the bottom part so that casement window is at least a few inches higher. But that is going to cost me more versus doing a sliding window.

After installing the windows, I still feel unsafe because I have a 2 years old child running around the house. Therefore decided to spend another $400 to install window grilles... what to do, safety always come first. I have a maid at home so do not want anything to happen to her too (touchwood!)

AHLIANREVIEWS :HDB 5 room new laminated flooring
When my bedrooms flooring was done, my hubby took a picture and sent to me.
Well, i have to admit it looks so much better now versus the empty room (refer to earlier posts).
Prior to having this new flat, i didnt know i need to pay for haulage fees to Town Council (about $280) and also pay for sand ($900 for 5 room, coz we bargain it down. Initially was quoted $1100 i think) for those floorings on tiles.
If I know that I would have proposed laminated floorings on all the rooms including living room! Every cents count when you move to a new house coz everything cost $$$$...
Well, i have to admit it looks so much better now versus the empty room (refer to earlier posts).

Brand new house from HDB - Reno works ongoing
My new house has been going through renovation works since Apr this year. This is a new 5 room from HDB. Below are some before and after photos of the rooms.

This is the first look at the living room. Pardon the darkness because I forgot to turn on my flash. But look small right... Looks like my existing 3 room flat's living room... sigh...

Next is the miserable kitchen. I only have this small space to cook and wash.. sigh... I miss my old 3 room flat... Not that I cook alot but this is extremely small like a studio apartment size. Even the contractor who came to take measurement for the cabinet commented that this is one of the smallest kitchen he had ever done! (pissed...)
Because Im on tight budget, I have to give up hacking the divider and alot of walls. The existing layout actually works against us because we are a big family of 5 adults including my maid and 1 child. If I have budget, I would have hack the divider and expand the kitchen to the service yard... If only I have the $$$$...

Next is master bedroom. Look at the block of space being taken up by the structure. Sigh... now that is a part which is wasted. In such a space constraint place in Singapore, doesnt HDB realise the owner would have appreciated any sqm of empty space????
One funny thing is that they only provide window grilles to the master bedroom and not to the rest of the rooms... So additional cost to me to have the rest of the rooms installed with window grilles...urgh!
